Hair! But so much more

I had been researching Essential Oils for hair like a crazy person because after my bout with meningitis and sepsis in November of 2014 I was home recovering and just when I thought the scary event was in my rear view mirror I noticed that my hair was falling out. It started slowly I really didn't think anything of it and then it got worse. Anytime I ran my fingers through my hair I would get dozens of strands. In the shower it was really noticeable whole chunks were falling out.

So beyond the practical thought of "I don't want to go bald" there was a deeper issue, I could not get past the grip of fear that meningitis had on me. I was so afraid of it happening again. There had been no warning I went to bed healthy and by the middle of the night I knew I was sicker than I had ever been in my life. I ended up in the emergency room in a scene from an ER tv show! They did 2 spinal taps and determined I had meningitis and even though I had heard of it and knew it was bad I didn't really know what it was or how bad it was then I went septic, when I heard them announce that I knew it was bad, then I passed out again. This repeated many times over the next days and weeks. All together I spent almost a month in the hospital and came out with only lingering headaches. But those weren't as big of a fear trigger as my hair falling out. It was just so tangible and constant.

I was very blessed to already be seeing a NAET practitioner and we worked on my hair. I also started adding cedarwood and rosemary essential oils to my shampoo. It stopped! My hair stopped falling out. It also grew back in wavy! After a lifetime of having very straight hair, this was a weird development 2 and 1/2 years later and my hair is almost back to normal. I am still working through the fear of what happened but everyday I get stronger.

I can now say that I am grateful for the issue with my hair because it made me look at the fear, I couldn't pretend it wasn't happening. I did a lot of journaling and used a lot of essential oils, not just for my hair but also for my emotional recovery. But that is for another post.

I still use those oils in my shampoo because they are amazing for hair growth and shine! I also just recently started using them for my eyelashes! I bought empty mascara tubes from amazon added 3 drops of each, Lavender, Rosemary and Cedarwood then filled it up with organic jojoba oil. I use it every night on my lashes and they are thicker and longer after only a month of using it!

If you are looking to bring essential oils into your life I would love it if you would let me help you get started. This is a fluffy recipe about eyelashes but Young Living is about so very much more than that.
